Seacoast Science Center
Rye, New Hampshire

The Seacoast Science Center is developing a very popular distance-learning program, transmitting its marine ecology and biology courses to classrooms throughout New Hampshire and beyond. Black River Architects, working with the Science Center and their contractor, Excel Construction Management, designed an auditorium/TV studio for on-site classes and interactive classes for broadcast throughout the region.

The addition blends with the existing building in general form and materials while improving the visual balance to the whole complex and emphasizing the building entrance. The auditorium/TV studio contains a sophisticated video recording system, programmable lighting and audio/visual presentation equipment all managed from a second floor control room.
