The Harvard Collection
Harvard Collections, a store representing the 21 museums of Harvard University, offered merchandise for students, tourists, alumni and shoppers in Harvard Square. The store was conceived as an "off-site" museum store, reflecting its museum heritage in the diverse merchandise selection.
The shelving was recessed into the walls and trimmed with wood frames and the custom designed floor fixtures, with locally quarried stone tops, create a specialty store aesthetic. Black River provided full architectural services, from design through construction. MarketPlace Associates (Black River Architects' retail consulting firm) developed the store's business and merchandising plan and continued to provide consultations on a wide variety of retail matters.
