Joppa Flats Education Center
Newburyport, Massachusetts
Black River Architects’ original design contemplated expansion of public and office space
into the unfinished attic. As anticipated, the project currently being designed by Black River
Architects will provide additional classrooms for children’s educational programs.
In addition, the client and the architect are investigating a number of energy and resource conservation strategies, including wind power, rain water for irrigation and toilet flushing, nighttime ventilation, external south-facing window shading, lighting controls, and recycled materials.
