The kitchen of this 19th century Victorian, indeed the entire house, had not been updated since the 1950’s and while adequate, did not take full advantage of its potential as a gathering place for the family of six or of its adjacency to the rear yard. The addition of a bay window created enough additional space to permit a total reorganization of the kitchen and the inclusion of a half bath in the project. The view of the garden, previously non-existent, is now the magnet that has made the eat-in kitchen the center of the home.

The custom kitchen cabinets were inspired by Victorian and early 20th century cabinetry. The repeating module, partial glass doors, floating countertops, and alternating countertop materials (Vermont marble and maple) give the cabinets the look of custom designed furniture.
